News Updated on January 16, 2012

Gentlemen, start your engines! It is Pinewood Derby time.

Setup for the Pinewood Derby will take place in the gym at St. George on Saturday, January 21, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. We need as many of our parents as possible to help us set up the track and decorations for the Derby.

Starting at 3:00 PM and running until 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, the boys will have a chance to test their cars on the Pinewood Derby track and make any needed adjustments before the official weigh-in and inspection. There is a link to the district rules on the front page of the pack website. Please read them carefully as they are enforced. We are asking for each family to bring a donation of five dollars so that we can purchase the snacks and drinks for the concession stand.

Pinewood Derby Race Day is Sunday, January 22. We will start promptly at 1:00 PM. The Tigers will race first, followed by the Wolves, Bears and Webelos, and then the pack finals where all of the rank winners will compete for the top prize. This is always one of our most fun events and we look forward to seeing everyone there. We need some parents to assist us in working the concession stand for a shift or two when their scout is not racing. We will also need some help after the Derby to take the track and decorations down, pack them up and clean up the gym. The more the merrier so please give us a hand if you can.

We are off to a great start this scouting year. We are welcoming more than 40 new scouts and their families into Pack 136. I think that you will all feel right at home in our pack and want to be the first to say Welcome to each and every one of you.

Our first pack meeting was a great success. Thanks to all of the leaders who helped to make it happen. We are about to get busy with a lot of events. The pack calendar has been updated through November and we will be adding more dates to it real soon. In the meantime here is what should be the final dates for all of the events for the 2011 - 2012 scouting year.

Big changes coming to this website soon. I am in the process of selecting a new website design. I am hoping to have this completed soon.
