Religious Emblems

On this page you will find information and links pertaining to the religious emblem awards. Since Cub Scout Pack 136 is chartered by St. George Catholic Church we strive to provide a Catholic oriented message to all of our scouts. The pack encourages all of the scouts to pursue the religious emblem awards available to them. Many of these awards are Catholic or Christian in nature but there are also religious emblem awards for those of other faiths and denominations.

Please take some time and explore the information on this page as well as that found at the provided links. If you have any questions about these awards you can contact the pack's religious emblem co-ordinator.

Rosary Patch

A scout may earn a Rosary Patch by answering a series of relatively easy questions. The program is administered at the den/patrol level by the leader. There are four different patches, each for the four different groups of Mysteries - Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious.

Information on the patches and an order form can be found here.

Parvuli Dei / Light Of Christ

Each scout may also earn either a Light of Christ (for Tigers and Wolves) or Parvuli Dei (for Bears and Webelos) award. These awards are somewhat more difficult to earn than a Rosary Patch. There are Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei workbooks which closely track what the scouts are learning in their religion classes at school. The program anticipates that the scout will work on the booklet at home with a parent. The booklets must be completed in their entirety then turned in to the pack's religious emblem co-ordinator. They must be signed by both the co-ordinator and the parish pastor.

These are special awards. The Bishop presents them in a ceremony towards the end of the scouting year. Also, the knot that symbolizes the award can be transferred to Boy Scouts if your son advances to that level. The only other award that can be transferred to Boy Scouts is the Arrow of Light.

Information on the Light of Christ award can be found here.
Information on the Parvuli Dei award can be found here.
